More than 2000 years

since the birth of the "Prince of Peace." I don't see any progress in the world toward peace...do you? Believers in the "second coming" have obviously given up. "We can't do it, Jesus. Your way? Nah. It's not even worth trying."

I, for one, believe that His way is definitely worth trying. I'll stick with Jesus, rather than with any cynical claim that we should give up.

Incidentally, there's more than one interpretation of when the second coming of Jesus would take place. And we should avoid the mistake of ancient Israel, which believed the Messiah would be a political, rather than a spiritual, leader. He has bought great peace and freedom from sin for any willing to accept them.

You may be missing the point. I am not suggesting that we give up. I am suggesting the the content of Jesus' message is what is being ignored, in favor of the celebration of a perhaps fictional birth and resurrection. If those who are in favor of acting "Christlike" ignore the message and proclaim only the Lord.....they are not only hypocrites....they are ineffectual in convincing non-Christians. With their justification of war, our own kinds of torture, lying, and imperialist behaviour, they make a mockery of Christianity. I believe it was Chesterton who said, "Christianity has not been tried and found wanting....it has been found difficult, and not tried."
